Description
I don't know if I like this technique or not...
Anyway...
Materials: india ink, white tempera, smooth paper sheet, medium brush (for tempera), old big brush (for ink), a big (enough to contain your sheet of paper) plastic box full of water.
1) Make a simple drawing with a pencil on a paper sheet.
2) With white tempera, paint the areas you want to be white. Use a lot of paint, since the white layer must be very thick.
3) Let dry completely. Wait for days if necessary.
4) With indian ink, completely cover in black your sheet.
5) Let it dry again.
6) Put your painting in the water and gently rub it. The tempera will melt, and part of the ink will detach from your paper, so the white parts will appear again.
7) Obviously, let it dry...
More Info
For this work, I left the exernal white border as it was (I used a little white paint to protect the sheet and absolutely no ink). The ink resist tecnique was used only for the 'cameo'.
The subject (the rose) was originally a stencil pattern that was adjusted by me and my art teacher to fit the technique.
