Indian Ink on Wet Paper

Description

(Tecnica Espansiva)

Interesting technique... I love its 'abstract' look, but it's really hard to control.
This one was just am experiment... I will practise more with this tecnique... Maybe something good will come out of it...

Materials: indian ink, dip pen, water, smooth or rough paper (this one is smooth), pencil for sketch

1) if you want, sketch your subject with a pencil
2) cover your sheet of paper in water (lot of water)
3) (don't let the water dry! be fast!!) trace your sketch with ink
The ink will start flowing freely on the watered surface of the paper sheet, creating interesting effects

If you are satisfied with what you have done, let it dry.

If you are not satisfied:
4) let it dry a bit (so that part of the ink will settle on your paper). (for this one I waited only a few seconds)
5) (carefully) water again your sheet, or part of it
6) trace again with ink the parts you desire

Wow, very cool! It reminds me of the frost that forms on windows in the winter... did you ever read the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark books as a kid? This could be a scene for a scary story for sure! The technique sounds like it would help someone "loosen up" - I should try it! :) (Smile)
